I recently had the chance to try some skin care products from The Body Shop that are completely new (to me). I’ve always loved The Body Shop products, and they make great gifts for people whose taste or style you don’t know very well (who doesn’t love new soap?). I used to use skin and hair products from The Body Shop religiously as a teen – like the grapefruit face wash (discontinued), the Blue Corn Mask, and the Coconut Shampoo and Banana Conditioner. It’s been a few years though since I looked at their skin care lines, and now that I’ve finally outgrown acne, nature has slapped me with fine lines and wrinkles (oh the irony!). Here are some of my new favorites from The Body Shop that I’ve run out and bought doubles of because I love them so much!
It’s rare that I try a moisturizer of any kind and feel like it actually had a noticeable effect on my skin. This one did ladies, and it should be front and center on your bathroom counter if you are 30+ years old. Seriously, it’s that good.
When I was younger I avoided skin care products with oil like the plague for fear of breaking out. But as I’ve since learned, once you hit 30, the idea that oils are bad no longer applies. Made from a combo of 3 seed oils and essential oils, this lightweight facial oil absorbs quickly and won’t wreak havoc on your pillows either. I wake up looking rested when I use it. Whaaaaaat? Yep, it’s true. New moms running on fumes, get this stuff pronto.
You know your grandmother’s strong-smelling, rose-scented talcum powder? The Atlas Mountain Rose scent is nothing like that. It is a crisp and fresh rose scent that borders almost on citrus and reminds me of the wild roses that grow right near the bay in my little beach town. The lotion is light and great for everyday, and also comes in a variety of other scents like Italian Summer Fig and Fijian Water Lotus.
Did you know that jasmine flowers exhale their strongest scent just before sunrise? That’s when harvesters collect the blossoms to make this pretty, feminine scent. The smell reminds me of Hawaii when you wake early in the morning and the air outside smells like the pikake jasmine flower. Ahhhhhh…
I love this 100% vegetarian night cream as well. The instructions say to apply liberally, and it does work even better when you do. Soft skin by morning.
As I learned from Ms. Hayley years ago, product absorbs better and makeup looks much better when you exfoliate regularly. Try this great smelling and brightening scrub in the morning.
7. Coconut Body Butter
This body butter is tried and true, and award-winning as well. It’s great for preventing stretch marks too if you’re expecting (I used it every night before bed and sometimes again in the morning). The moisture lasts all day and smells like the tropics. Yum.
Do you use skin and hair products from The Body Shop? I’d love to try some of your favorites!
